12 Proven Steps For Success In Life, Work, and Play

Introduction To “The Ultimate Success System That Never Fails”

Would you like to know why some people are hugely successful in life, while others are pathetic failures? Are you struggling to achieve success?

In this post I will share the secrets to this question from some of the greatest minds in history.  But, first I’d like to tell you a story. . .

This is the story of two brothers who grew up in essentially the same household, and shared at least 50% of their genes. They took different paths in life and thus created different results.

William Jefferson Blythe III was born August 19, 1946 in the small town of Hope Arkansas. Sadly, his father died in a car accident three months before he was born.

As a young child, William excelled in school and was an avid reader. During his high school years William continued to be an excellent student and was a star saxophonist.

In 1950, his mother, Virginia, married an auto salesman named Roger Clinton. Unfortunately, William’s father was an alcoholic and was very abusive to his mother and younger half-brother Roger Clinton Jr. On many occasions, William had to step in and protect his mother and brother from the abuse.

Despite his great dislike for his father, William decided to change his last name to Clinton just like his brother, whom he loved very much.

As a sixteen year old, Bill had the opportunity to go to the White House and got to shake the hand of John F. Kennedy.  That’s when he discovered exactly what he wanted to do in life.

As Bill Clinton went on to college, he continued to excel in school, becoming a Rhodes Scholar, attended Yale Law School, and developed a greater interest in politics.

In 1975 he was elected Attorney General of Arkansas, and two years later he was elected governor.

Greater things were to come despite set-backs along the way. On November 3, 1992, Bill Clinton was elected the 42nd President of the United States.

Bill Clinton served as President of the United States from 1993-2001. Even though there were some stains on his presidency and was almost impeached, his presidency is considered to be one of the most successful and productive in history.

Bill’s Brother. . .

As mentioned previously, Bill had a younger half-brother named Roger. His biography is almost the exact opposite of Bill’s!

Making a long story short, Roger’s high school years consisted of rock music and getting high on marijuana.

As a young adult, he had a series of odd-jobs, and was in a rock band. Roger became addicted to drugs and alcohol.

In 1985 Roger was busted for cocaine possession and was convicted for drug trafficking. He was sentenced to one year in prison for which he was later pardoned by his brother.

While his brother was president, the Secret Service dubbed Roger “Headache” due to his poor and challenging behavior.

Roger has had only mediocre success as a musician and actor. Most recently, he has been arrested for DUIs (driving under the influence). He lives in southern California and essentially lives a mediocre life.

Why did the brother’s lives end up so differently?

As you learn about my “12 Step- Ultimate Success System That Never Fails”, try to determine which parts of the system contributed to Bill’s amazing success. Try also to determine which steps were lacking that eventually lead to Roger’s failures.

A psychologist for over thirty-five years, as well as an observer and participant of life, it has been my quest to discover the secrets of success.  The main question that I wanted answered was “Why are some people hugely successful in life,  while others are pathetic failures?”

I knew there had to be some secret, some formula, some magic, some way of doing things that created totally different results.  If I could find this formula, then I could not only become successful myself, but I could also help others in their journey through life to become successful and to live exceptional lives.

I began my studies by reading the theories of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Carl Rogers, Robert Sternberg, Howard Gardner, and other great thinkers in psychology. I then complemented my research with the more modern thinking of such personal success gurus as Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Stephen Covey, Wayne Dyer, Denis Waitley, Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Og Mandino, Robert Kyosaki, Phillip C. McGraw, Les Brown, John Maxwell, Dean Graziosi, and others.

I also paid attention to the quotes from historical greats such as Benjamin Franklin, Winston Churchill, Walt Disney, Warren Buffet, Conrad Hilton, Pele, Confucius, Theodore Roosevelt, Henry Ford, J. Paul Getty, Nelson Mandela, Vince Lombardi and others.

What I discovered was that there was much overlap in their ideology as to what makes people successful. What I have done is to take their philosophies and distilled from them 12 steps or fundamentals that are consistently mentioned as “keys” to success.

I am confident that if you use this 12-step system, you will be successful in whatever endeavor, ambition, or goal that you want to achieve.  This system is applicable if your objective is to:

  • become a millionaire
  • become a world-class athlete
  • climb the corporate ladder
  • grow your own business
  • improve your family life
  • grow successful kids
  • get out of debt
  • build a hugely successful network marketing business

Likewise, if you are failing at something that you are trying to achieve, you can use this system to determine what is keeping you stuck.  Perhaps you are missing one of the steps, i.e. fundamentals.  You can use the system to do a self-analysis.

SUCCESS IS LIKE A ROAD TRIP

“The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it’s possible to achieve the American Dream.”- Tommy Hilfiger

The analogy I use to explain the system that I call, “The Ultimate Success System That Never Fails,” is that preparing for success is very much like preparing for a road trip.  When one decides to take a road trip, the person is best not to take off in any direction without taking preliminary steps.

You have to decide where you are going, determine what vehicle you are going to take, plan the route, and determine the arrival time at your destination.  It would also be wise to give your car a safety inspection to make sure that everything is in good working order.

The process that successful people go through is very similar to the above.  The process they follow may not all be done consciously, but nevertheless, the steps in the system get done.

Moreover, you will find that these 12 steps in the success system are “keys” or fundamentals that are mentioned frequently in personal success or personal development literature.

You will begin to notice that when you learn about what many successful people went through or did to get to where they are, most if not all the steps are evident.  It applies to success in a variety of arenas.

For example, read the histories of such notables as: Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps, Caesar Chavez and Martin Luther King, Eddie Murphy and George Lopez, Robert Schuller and Billy Graham, Ann Sieg and Ray Higdon as examples of success.

They all employed the fundamentals in “The Success System That Never Fails” despite the different fields they were in.

By the way, what is the definition of success?

Actually, the definition is up to you!  You decide what success means to you.  There is no set standard for what success level you must reach, however there are some guidelines.

A popular definition of success is “being able to live your life in your own way, doing those things that you want to do with the people who you choose, in the situations you desire.”

I also believe that success can be defined as being self-sufficient, contributing to society, giving to others, taking care of your parents and children, and creating successful future generations. In conclusion, I believe success means being a “winner” in life and in whatever endeavor you choose to undertake.

THE SYSTEM BEGINS

Note: At this time, I will be providing an outline of the system with the intent to go into more depth in future articles. You are allowed to share the system, but do not edit the system or article in any way.  Get ready to succeed!

Achieve Peak Performance with Brian Tracy’s “Success Mastery Academy”- A Proven System for Setting-and Meeting-Objectives for Personal and Business Success-       Click Here

STEP 1- DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT? WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE?

“If you don’t have a vision and clarity on the destination you want to reach, you’ll simply never get there.  The reason I call it Ferrari brain is because you can buy the most expensive Ferrari in the world and drive as fast as you possibly can, but if you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll get nowhere quickly.”- Dean Graziosi

As Dean says, you must have a clear vision or at least an idea of where you want to go. Someone also said, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will do.”

Determining what you want or where you want to go is not always easy to do, but it’s one reason people fail. They fail to specify their destination, goal, or end point.

If you decide to take a road trip, the first step is to say, “I need to go from Los Angeles to New York City, and I need to get there by Monday of next week.”

Here are some other examples. . .

“I need to lose ten pounds by ______ for my class reunion.”

“I want to play professional basketball by the time I turn 21.”

“I want to double my income by _____ and I will be working at Apple.”

“I want a man who is kind, well-mannered, has a job, and is good to his mother.”

“I want to build a six-figure network marketing business within three years.”

Now you know where you want to go, or what you want, or what you want to achieve. You must also have a clear picture in you mind of what it will look like, and how you will feel when you achieve what you want.

“Decide what you want.  Believe you can have it. Visualize having what you want.  Feel the feelings of already having it.”- Jack Canfield

STEP 2- DEVELOP “SMART” GOALS

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”- Tony Robbins

Now that you have a vision or some clarity as to where you want to go, or what you want, you must take that vision and break it down into goals.

“The purpose of goals is to focus attention.  The mind will not reach toward achievement until it has clear objectives.  The magic begins when we set goals. It is then that the switch is turned on, the current begins to flow, and the power to accomplish becomes reality.” – The Best of Success, compiled by Wynn Davis.

The goals you develop must have some specific features in order for them to be effective.  They must be SMART!

S= SPECIFIC– They must be clear and unambiguous.

M= MEASURABLE– They must be quantifiable, measurable.

A= ATTAINABLE They must be realistic; not too far out of reach.

R= RELEVANT– They must support your vision; aligned with your goals.

T= TIME BOUND They must have a target date; a completion date.

Finally, they must be written down! Until your goals are written down, they’re not really goals, they’re just dreams and wishes.  They should also be reviewed on a regular basis.

There was a famous Harvard study done with the class of 1953.  It was discovered that only 10% of the class had developed any goals at all. Only 3% of the students in that class had written down their goals.

It was amazing that when these students were interviewed by the researchers 20 years later, the 3% that had written down their goals were significantly more successful.  In fact, they were worth more in economic terms than the entire 97% of the remaining class combined!

If we continue with the road trip analogy, I might state my goal as “I will arrive at New York City by August 23rd, 2022.”

EXAMPLE Goals Related To:

Weight Loss- “I will lose 10 pounds by January 1st, 2018.” or “I will weigh 130 pounds by January 1st, 2018.”

Financial- “I will increase my income by 50% by January 1st, 2018.” or “I am earning $100,000 per year by January 1st, 2018.”

Network Marketing- “I will have 50 personally sponsored reps, and will be earning $5000 per month by January 1st, 2018.”

“People with goals succeed because they know where they are going.”- Earl Nightingale

STEP 3- CREATE A ROAD MAP, A BLUEPRINT, OR A PLAN

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”- Zig Ziglar

Since I have decided to go from Los Angeles to New York City, should I just take off in a general direction and hope that eventually I will get there? NO!  It would be much smarter to plan my route. I now know that I can take highway #40 until about Nashville, Tennessee, then I have to take highway #81 North to New York City.

Now I can do some Reverse Goal-Setting to determine exactly where I need to be so that I can reach New York City by my scheduled end date.  I know that I have to be in Nashville, Tennessee about one week before my end date. I can determine where I need to be on the map by a certain time in order for me to reach my goal by the end date.

A road map or a blueprint must be developed for any endeavor whether it’s driving to a destination, losing weight, increasing your income, graduating from college, or becoming a professional basketball player.

For example, if your goal is to lose 20 pounds, develop a weight loss plan. If your desired end date is January 1st, 2018, and you want your weight to be 130 pounds, you know that you must weigh about 125 pounds by November, 2017. A loss of another 5 pounds by January is attainable and so on.

If my goal was to sponsor 50 reps by the end of the year, I know that I would have to sponsor 4-5 reps per month.  That means that I would have to show ‘X’ number of presentations per month, which means that I would have to make ‘X’ number of calls per month. See how this works?

“An idiot with a plan can beat a genius without a plan.”- Warren Buffet

“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”- Benjamin Franklin

STEP 4- DO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT “VEHICLE”?

If I need to get from Los Angeles to New York City by a certain date, I can either take my car, or I can book a train.  Both vehicles will get me there.  However, if I instead wanted to travel to Paris, France, neither vehicle will  take me there.  I will have to choose a different vehicle, like a plane perhaps.

Likewise, many people do not reach their goals because they do not have the right vehicle.

I hear many people say “I want to become a millionaire!” The problem is they stay stuck in a low paying JOB that is not likely to create the upward mobility nor the income needed to become a millionaire. They have the wrong “vehicle!” They have to look for something else with the potential to yield greater income.

Many people say “I want to lose weight!”  However, the “vehicle” they choose for losing weight is the “See Food Diet.” It’s not going to work!  It’s the wrong diet plan! I hear that now doctors will be prescribing diet plans based on the individual’s genetic makeup.

In order to achieve your goals, you must make sure that you have the right “vehicle” that is likely to get you where you want to go.

Choose a “vehicle” that has the potential to help you to reach your goals or destination. How do you know it’s the right vehicle? Do some research. If other people have achieved the goals that you want using that vehicle, then it is likely that you have the right one as long as it also aligns with your values.  (Stealing, selling drugs, corporate fraud are not appropriate “vehicles”)

STEP 5- CHECK YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEMS (YOUR THINKING, BELIEF, ATTITUDE, VALUES)

“Change your thoughts and you can change your world.”- Unknown

Before I initiate my road trip, do you think I should give my car an inspection before I get on the road? Of course!  I want to make sure that my car is in good working order.  I will check my tires, my battery, my fluids, and my belts.  If there is a problem with any one of these, it could lead to problems on the road and perhaps prohibit me from getting to my destination on time.

Likewise, if you want to achieve your personal goals, you must give yourself an inspection.  Check your:

Thinking- Do you think like a winner? Or, do you have “Stinkin Thinkin?” There is a huge difference between how successful people think and how ‘losers’ think. There is a huge difference between how millionaires think and how average people think.

“What we think most about is constantly weaving itself into the fabric of our career, becoming a part of ourselves, increasing the power of our mental magnet to attract those things which we most ardently desire.”- O.S. Marden

Belief- Do you have a strong belief that you can achieve your goals? Do you believe that you are worthy of achieving your goals? Do you have “empowering” beliefs or “limiting” beliefs?

“Our belief at the beginning of a doubtful undertaking is the one thing that assures the successful outcome of an venture.”- William James

“Your beliefs shape your actions. Your actions create your results, the circumstances of your life; and those results, when stretched out over a lifetime, are what’s called your destiny.”- Peter L. Hirsch

Attitude- Do you have a positive attitude or do you have a “hardening of the attitudes?” Positive attitudes create positive results. Zig Ziglar says, “Your attitude determines your altitude!”

“Our attitudes control our lives, attitudes are a secret power working twenty-four hours a day, for good or bad.  It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force.”- Charles Simmons

Values- Your values are what makes you tick, the ideals that are most important to you.  Are your values congruent with your goals?  Do you have constructive values or destructive values? Your values are like your GPS.  They will guide you through life in a way that is either positive and goal-congruent, or negative and goal in-congruent. Your values are your guide posts. They will let you know if you are going in the wrong direction.

“A thing that will help your inner life is to set up in your mind a standard of values so that you know what is really significant, important and valuable.”- John Miller

To highlight the effect of values, you can easily observe that the values of Oprah Winfrey are significantly different than the values of Leona Helmsley, (the rich hotel mizer). Do you think the values of Bill Gates are different than the values of Bernie Madoff the biggest Ponzi Scheme con-man?

If any of the above are negative, they may cause you problems and thereby hinder your achievement. They must be fixed before getting on the road to success.

STEP 6- CHECK YOUR BRAKES

Have you ever driven your automobile with the brakes on?  You step on the gas and you get nowhere fast!  Suddenly you look down and you realize that you have had the parking brake on all this time!  What a waste of energy!

Without realizing it, you may subconsciously have your brakes on.  They may be holding you back from achieving your goals.  It may seem like the harder you try, the less you accomplish.

By “brakes” what I mean is that you may not be achieving your goals because you have a “fear of failure.” You are so afraid to fail that it’s hard for you to even get off the starting blocks.

You may have a “fear of success” that is holding you back. A villain voice inside your head is telling you “What if I succeed? I’ll have so much responsibility, so many expectations! Maybe I won’t be able to manage it.”

Your self-concept and self-esteem may be poor.  You may not feel worthy of high achievement. You may even feel depressed with low energy and a constant barrage of negative thoughts in your head.

As a result, people often sabotage themselves.  They create a vicious cycle of negative thoughts, creating negative emotions, which then produce negative results. Positive emotions release your brakes!

In order to move toward success you must examine within yourself the limiting beliefs that are holding you back.  Once you determine what they are, you must obliterate them from your subconscious. You must change your mindset and turn on your “success switch!”

“When you release your brakes, you allow the vast untapped potential which you have to flow naturally and spontaneously. Not only you, but the world will be happier, healthier, and a lot more fun to be around!”- James W. Newman , Trainer of the PACE Program

STEP 7- CHECK YOUR FUEL

Oh yea, gotta check the fuel gauge to make sure I have gas in the tank! Can you imagine starting off on your trip and suddenly realizing you’re out of gas!  It’s happened to me before.  The car chokes, comes to a complete stop and now I’m walking five miles to the nearest gas station. I’ll never get to New York with an empty tank!

In reality, the “fuel” is our passion, our emotion!

“Only when you have enough passion or emotion in your tank will you have enough fuel to reach your destination.”- Success

Emotion is what drives us.  It’s our motivation.  The pleasure/pain principle states that we tend to move toward pleasure and we tend to move away from pain.

If you’re not passionate about your goals, if your vision doesn’t create some strong emotions in you, you will not have enough “fuel” in the tank to make them come true.

If you’re building a business, and you are not passionate about your product or your business, it is not likely that you will have enough “fuel” to get you through the obstacles that may arise.  You must also do some introspection to determine what at your core is the reason you’re building this business in the first place.

You must regularly remind yourself of your “WHY” i.e. your reason for wanting to succeed in your endeavor.  Perhaps you are trying to succeed for your family, your children, your self-esteem, or to contribute to a higher cause.  Whatever it is, it must be something that burns in your heart and doesn’t let you go!

Therefore, think BIG!  Make goals that scare you to death! Make them exciting!

“Passion is energy.  Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.”- Oprah Winfrey

“Success comes from the power of PASSION and perseverance”- Angela Duckworth, Author of “Grit”

STEP 8- TAKE ACTION!

Okay! I’ve checked everything and all systems are go! I’m going to start the engine, step on the gas, and I’m outta here!  Yes, I’m going to start the engine, and step on the gas!  Did I tell you that I was going to start the engine and step on the gas?

Many people have great ideas and big dreams, but they never get their foot off of first base.  They fail to take the first step toward making their dreams a reality.

They may say “I need to get my college degree,” then never take the first step by registering for a class.

Someone might say “I need to lose weight,” but then fail to rid the pantry of soda pop, chips, and other junk food.

“I want to start my own business,” but never look for a location or research a franchise.

“I want to build an international network marketing business”, but never take the first step to share their product or their business.

Have you ever heard anyone say “You’re all talk and no action!”

I’ll never get to New York if I don’t start the engine, get my foot off the brake, and step on it!”

As John Assaraf says, “Use the ‘GOYA’ principle” “Get Off Your Ass and Get Going!”

“Action is the most important key to any success.”- Tony Robbins

STEP 9- FOCUS!

Finally, I’m on the road. New York City here I come! Nothing can stop me now!

Oh, but you know what? I hear Utah has some amazing canyons. I think I’ll head in that direction and check them out.  As long as I’m headed north, maybe I’ll check out Alaska.  Some great country up there!

Are you distracted?

You must be able to FOCUS!  You must also be able to focus on the right things.  This isn’t easy, especially in today’s world with all the tech gadgets, and all the possible distractions around us.

Peter L. Hirsch in his book, “Living With Passion,” tells the story of a master archer who was in the forest with two students.  As both students were preparing their arrows to shoot at a target far off in the distance, the master interrupted them and asked each one to describe what he saw.

The first archer said, “I see the sky and the clouds above.  I see the fields and grass beyond.  I see the different trees of the forest-oak, beech, pine, poplar and maple- and I see their branches.  I see the leaves.  I see the target with its colored rings.  I see. . . ”  The master stopped the first archer mid-sentence and said, “Put down your bow my son. You are not ready to shoot today.”

He then asked the second archer, “What do you see?”  The student replied, “Nothing except for the goal at the center of the target, Master”

“Then let your arrow fly,” said the Master.  The arrow flew dead-on to the very center of the target!

What was the lesson being taught by the Master? – Laser-targeted FOCUS!

Many people suffer from “shiny object” syndrome.  They start off in one direction until something else comes in front of them.  They go from one thing to another and never accomplish anything in either.  It’s lack of focus!

But “focus” is what distinguishes the average achiever from the exceptional achiever.  According to researcher and best-selling author, Daniel Goleman, “While the link between attention and excellence remains hidden most of the time, it ripples through almost everything we seek to accomplish.”

Take for instance Michael Jordan and Steph Curry.  In critical games they demonstrated extraordinary focus and were able to sink the winning shots on more than one occasion despite all the distractions around them. That’s why they have been picked  as MVPs- Most Valuable Players.

Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus have won the most golf tournaments due to their ability to focus and sink unbelievable putts even with the gallery of fans in the background.  That is why they are considered the greatest golfers of all time!

This also applies to business.  Do you think Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, or Jeff Bezos had to focus? Don’t get distracted! Stick to your plan!

“The successful warrior is the average man with laser-like focus.”- Bruce Lee

“Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master.  For this reason mastery demands all of a person.”- Albert Einstein

Image courtesy of Stuart Miles at freedigitalphotos.net

STEP 10- DEVELOP SELF-DISCIPLINE

I’ll give it to you straight! Many people fail to achieve their goals and dreams because they just don’t have the self-discipline to do what it takes to get the job done!

No one said it was going to be easy!  Sometimes success requires us to do some things that we may not feel like doing.  In fact, Brian Tracy defines “self-discipline” as “the ability to do what you should do, when you should do it whether you feel like it or not.”

People who fail to achieve their goals tend to look for the shortcuts.  They seek the fastest or easiest way. They also do not have the self-discipline to change their bad habits into successful habits.

Professional athletes become great by practice, practice, practice! (Actually by “smart practice” but I’ll talk about that another time). They practice in the morning, in the afternoon, during holidays, in warm days, in cold days even when they don’t feel like it.

Successful people make a habit of doing things that unsuccessful people don’t like to do.

On my way to New York City, I may not like the long hours of driving through a winter storm, or perhaps through congested traffic, but if I do it anyway, even though I don’t feel like it, I’m assured to get to my destination on time.

“If you want to be the best, you have to do things that other people aren’t willing to do.”- Michael Phelps

STEP 11- GET A MENTOR

Remember the movie, “The Karate Kid?”  I loved that movie with Ralph Macchio as the Karate Kid and Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi.  There was a lot to learn in that movie.  When the kid tried to go at it on his own, he failed pretty badly.

Fortunately, he hooked up with Mr. Miyagi who took him on as a Karate student.  Mr. Miyagi became his mentor. He began to teach the kid his martial art.  At first the kid didn’t believe that he was being taught anything.

For his first lesson, Mr. Miyagi told his student to wash and wax his cars. He told him to use circular arm movements. Remember “Wax on wax off?” The Karate Kid protested and wanted to give up.  But, Mr. Miyagi was actually teaching him martial arts techniques.

Mr. Miyagi knew what he was doing and was actually teaching the kid Karate. He was sharing his wisdom and experience.  As mentioned above, with focus, self-discipline, and persistence, the kid became a very skilled fighter.

In life, as on a road trip to New York City, it is always helpful to have with you someone with experience who knows “the ropes,”  who knows the road ahead.  The journey becomes more efficient when you have sitting next to you, someone who knows the fastest route, knows the possible hazards, and knows the skills required for succeeding.

You must find yourself a mentor who will guide you to success in whatever endeavor you wish to undertake.  Virtually every exceptionally successful person has had a wise, loyal advisor, teacher, or coach.

“A mentor is someone whose hindsight can become your foresight.”- Harvey Mackay

“If you want to achieve success all you need to do is find a way to model those who have already succeeded.”- Tony Robbins

“Getting a mentor is the shortcut to success- Bo Sanchez

STEP 12- YOU MUST PERSIST/PERSEVERE

“So long as there is a breath in me, that long I will persist.  For now I know one of the greatest principles of success.  If I persist long enough I will win.”- Og Mandino

“I’m convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.”- Steve Jobs

The journey to success does not always take place on a smooth, straight highway.  There are pot holes, detours, hills, and valleys.  You may also need to deal with rain, hail, fire, or even tornadoes!

Life isn’t always fair, and often times the road to success isn’t paved with milk and honey!  You may experience hardships and failure along the way.  However, you must not quit!  Thomas Edison said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

Failure and struggle are a common hazards on the road to success. They are essential parts of success.

So, you must make adjustments along the way.  You must make sure that your passion is strong enough to overcome these challenges.

I dare you to show me an exceptionally successful person who has not failed or struggled along the way.  Read the histories of such notables as Maya Angelou, Nelson Mandela, Jean Paul DeJoria, Mary Kay, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, Carol Burnett and others, and you will notice that failure and struggle were an essential part of their journeys.

“Successful people are not the ones who have never struggled.  They are the ones who never give up despite the struggles.”- Sharon Jaynes

“When you look at the best of the best across domains, the combination of passion and PERSEVERANCE sustained over the long term is the common denominator.”- Angela Duckworth

THE LUBRICATION- “THE FOUR-LETTER WORD”

You have now learned the 12 Steps that make up “The Success System That Never Fails.”  Follow this system and you are guaranteed success in anything you want to undertake.

However, there is one more ingredient to this formula that I call the “Lubrication.”  It’s what makes everything go and work smoothly.  Without it, the system breaks down just as the engine in your car will break down if you run it without oil.

The “lubrication” that I’m talking about is hard “WORK!”  Oops! I know I said a four letter word!

Thomas Edison said, “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”

The only place where success precedes work is in the dictionary!”- Vidal Sassoon

I don’t know of any successful person that didn’t work hard to get to where they are now.  I could sugar-coat it for you and tell you that success comes easy, but the truth is, that it requires persistent work along with the 12 Steps of the Success System That Never Fails.  Work is the lubrication that makes the system go.

“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic. It takes sweat, determination, and hard work.”- Colin Powell

“All roads that lead to success have to pass through HARD WORK Boulevard at some point.”- Author Unknown

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS

Apply the 12 Steps of “The Success System That Never Fails” and I assure you that you will succeed in everything you do.  It’s a bold statement, but the system consists of wisdom that has consistently been proven to be effective by scholars from centuries ago to the those of the present.

This system is derived from the teachings of ancient philosophers such as Confucius and Plato, and distilled from the modern teachers of personal success and personal development such as Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn, Denis Waitley. Stephen Covey, and others.  The system worked back in ancient history and it will work for you today!

People have asked me “What if I don’t apply all the steps? Can I still succeed?”

It’s been my experience that people can succeed even though they don’t apply all of the steps. However for every step that is skipped you will reduce the likelihood of success by at least 10%.  The more steps that are skipped, the greater likelihood of failure. Many people fail in one or more areas of their lives because they have not mastered the fundamentals.

So, don’t skip any steps if you are serious about being successful!

Finally, I want to leave you with a quote from one of the greatest personal development teachers. . .

“Success is neither magical nor mysterious.  Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals.”- Jim Rohn
