Ten Questions for Making the Next Twelve Months Your Most Successful Ever!

Congratulations, you’ve answered the first five questions!  Now it’s time to continue with the next five questions to help you assess your business, yourself, and what you need to do to make 2022 your best year!

Questions 6-10:

6- What Roles Do I Play In My Life?

“Looking at your life from the perspective of the roles you play provides a sensible way of integrating the various areas of your life while placing yourself and your values at the center, directing the show.”- J. Ditzler

Some of your roles may include: parent, son/daughter, husband/wife, manager, lover, friend, coach, etc.

Looking at what roles you play has some benefits:

  1. It provides direction- When you think about your roles, it enables you to direct yourself and design your life the way you want.
  2. It places who you are- your values- at the center of your life- It allows you to determine if your roles are aligned with your values.  If not, then you need to make adjustments in those particular roles.
  3. It makes life pursuit the natural option- It forces you to look outward, to create a mental image of what you should look like in that role.
  4. It generates balance in your life- If too much time is spent on one or two roles, you are out of balance. It is important to have balance. You don’t want to neglect one role for another. For example, many people focus on their job and neglect the family, or their spouse.
  5. It increases your natural motivation- You become more effective in playing your roles and thereby your natural energy increases.

7- Which Role is My Major Focus For Next Year?

List each role you play in your life. (Network marketer, father/mother, friend, family member, etc.) Next rate each role you play on a scale of 1 to 10 depending on how you feel you’re performing in that role.  The better you feel about your performance, the higher the score.

Now that you’ve listed and rated all your roles, choose the one role that you want to focus on for the next year.  It is important to focus on just one.  Which role will have the most significant impact on your life or business? Is there a role that requires more attention?

Which role will empower you to succeed with your goals? Choose one role as your major focus- the one that will provide you with the results you want.

Write this role down and visualize the success you want to create in this role.  What will you look like in this role? What would you have to change or improve?

8- What Are My Goals For Each Role?

“People who have goals achieve more results in their lives. People who know where they’re going have a better chance of getting there.”- J. Ditzler

A goal is a specific and measurable result you want to achieve within a specific time frame.  It is essentially a target of what you want.  Once it is defined, then you can develop the process to achieve it.

Goals need to be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time Bound.

A network marketing goal may be: “By December 2019, I will have personally sponsored 12 reps onto my front line.” The process to achieve this goal is by scheduling 3 appointments per week to do a one-on-one, or take prospects to a meeting.

Write down your goals for your major focus.  Work backwards to determine where you should be at specific time intervals. Do it now!

Make sure that your goals:

  • match your values
  • are not “should” goals
  • are ones you want badly enough to do what it takes
  • are ones you’re willing to be responsible for

9- What Are My Top Ten Goals for the Next Year?

Now it’s time to prioritize and select your top ten goals.  You may have written down many more than just ten goals, but it’s important to whittle them down to no more than ten.  This will allow you to focus on what’s most important.

You choose your ten goals by first thinking about what you really want for yourself and for those people who are most important to you.  Which goals, when achieved, will make the most difference to you and them?

Next, after you have identified your “top ten” goals, you need to prioritize even further.  You will rank the goals from 1 to 10, with #1 being the highest priority and so on.  The highest priority is the one that will bring the greatest return on the investment of time and energy.

Visualize yourself in a year’s time having achieved each of your goals.  How will you feel?  When you’ve achieved your goals, will you have had the best year you’ve ever had?

10- How Can I Make Sure I Achieve My Top Ten Goals?

Here are some things you can do to ensure your success.  First, keep your goals visible. Display them in a prominent place where they can be seen, and review them on a regular basis.

In order to ensure your best year yet, you must not only change what you do but also how you think and feel.  You must take action.

Find a like-minded person in your life and provide support to one another. This makes you accountable to one another and makes it more likely that you will follow through.

Avoid listening to that negative voice inside your head that is giving you dis-empowering messages.  Use positive self-talk to change the dialogue.  Visualize what you will look and feel like when you succeed.

Avoid negative people who want you to fail. Seek out people who support you and want you to succeed.  Listen to motivational videos and read personal development books that will inspire you.

Prioritize your time. Complete activities that are “important, not urgent” first.  These tasks or projects are what matters most to you, and are most critical to completing your most important goals.

Set monthly goals that represent thirty-day chunks of what needs to be done to achieve you top ten goals. Then set weekly goals that are seven-day plans to move toward your monthly goals.

Finally, meet with your coach, friend, colleague, or family member once a month to review your goals.  This will keep you accountable and on-track.
